Iberia, the acclaimed Spanish flag carrier, has selected Vistair’s world-leading document management solution, DocuNet, to support the publication of its Airbus mixed fleet and operational manuals.
The Spanish flag carrier, operating Madrid-Barajas Airport, is the third member of the International Airlines Group (‘IAG’) to select DocuNet for the management, publication and distribution of its flight documents. British Airways, one of Vistair’s very first DocuNet clients in 2006, and OpenSkies also use this document management system.
Currently operating 76 airplanes in 124 locations spanning Europe and South America, Iberia were looking for a comprehensive and full-service solution, capable of delivering its expanding operational library and all mission-critical content for its entire Airbus fleet.
DocuNet with its ability to archive, alter, update and distribute a variety of operational, OEM and regulatory manuals to multiple platforms and users in multiple locations via secure cloud-based solutions was selected as the most flexible and scalable option available. Iberia were also very much aware that the incoming A350 manual suite needed to be integrated quickly.
Iberia’s Director of Operations, Pedro Gomez sums up why DocuNet was chosen: “We needed a reliable and comprehensive document management system that would significantly reduce staff time spent processing and monitoring document versions.
“Managing manuals across the Iberia fleet needs to be fast, simple and transparent. We wanted a solution that would facilitate this and provide a real-time view of the status of the manual suite.”
Iberia now joins British Airways, OpenSkies, Air Asia, Qantas, Virgin Australia, Norwegian, easyJet, SAS and a host of other world leading airlines using this leading document management system.
Ian Herbert, Vistair CEO, comments: “A fundamental driver of DocuNet’s success is the constant reinvestment in our technology to support ever-increasing technology gains, user expectations and changing industry requirements. Innovation and developments are key and we are driven by both customer and industry requirements which ensures that the system is continually refined to perfectly meet operational needs.”
“We are thrilled to have been selected by Iberia and are confident that DocuNet will surpass their expectations. It is the world’s leading airline document management solution and we look forward to a successful partnership with Iberia.”
Iberia has taken on board Vistair’s enterprise solution which has been developed with complete user interface and content control in mind. It encompasses many innovative features, including multi-platform delivery, the InterACT platform that makes it easier for technical authors to specify and define content changes, and a tracking platform to monitor the status of manual updates. In addition, Vistair’s Airbus comparison tool allows for efficient editing and change control management.
Despite Iberia’s initial concerns pertaining to the speed of MEL customisation, the key phases of onboarding are now fulfilled and the full transition to DocuNet is almost complete.
Pedro Gomez adds: “We really appreciate the working relationship that has been built between our main operators and Vistair. The seamless process has instilled great confidence and we envisage a major improvement with the management of Iberia manuals going forward.”
