Conrail To Transform Paper Rulebooks With Comply365’S Content Management System & Mobile App

Train Crews to Have Instant, Easy Access to Critical Content

Beloit, WI – JAN. 24, 2023 – Cloud-hosted software provider Comply365 is pleased to announce its continued transformation of the rail industry with its newest partner, Conrail, which will convert its large “grips” of paper rulebooks into a more efficient operation with Comply365’s content management system and mobile app for train crews.

Comply365’s solution will enable Conrail to better enhance safety and compliance – and provide new efficiencies as train crews leave large paper manuals behind, and access all their critical documents with easy searching on a tablet.

Class 1 railroads CSX and Norfolk Southern jointly own Conrail, which as a local service provider ensures customers’ freight shipments are safely and efficiently moved between their rail sidings and the long-distance freight trains operated by CSX and Norfolk Southern.

“We needed an innovative system that would keep our rulebooks consistent across our network and make it easy for our crews to access the information they need to do their jobs safely and efficiently,” said Brian Simon, Manager of Safety at Conrail. “The experience and value Comply365 bring will make it a smooth transition for our administrators to begin electronic document delivery and an intuitive experience for our mobile end users.”

Thanks to Comply365’s expansive customer community of rail users and the use of APIs, Conrail plans to easily tap into rulebooks, bringing operational efficiencies for Conrail.

Comply365, whose customers include many of the major airlines across the globe, is leading a digital transformation in the rail industry, much like it did in aviation a decade ago. Comply365’s rail division includes several Class 1 freight customers, as well as passenger and commuter rail operators across North America.

Conrail’s project will digitize rulebooks, bulletins, special instructions, and other mission-critical documents that train conductors, engineers and other operational personnel must carry to safely operate across the rail system. The effort provides savings in printing and distribution costs, and also allows them to deliver personalized and targeted content to specific crews or departments with alerts and push notifications, as well as compliance tracking.

End users will be able to quickly search and filter across all their documents in an easy-to-use app, and bookmark and annotate important documents – online or offline.

“We are happy to welcome Conrail into our rail community that continues to grow, and we’re excited for them to realize the benefits of digitizing their operational content and processes,” Comply365 CEO Tom Samuel said. “The efficiencies they’ll gain from having an operational content management platform that captures compliance is transformative.”

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Comply365’s ProAuthor to Provide Automated Workflows, Reusable Content, and Standards Tracking

Beloit, WI – FEB. 9, 2022 – Aviation software leader Comply365 is pleased to announce its newest customer, SunExpress will soon leverage a more efficient and streamlined process to create and deliver smart content to its frontline crews.

SunExpress, a leisure carrier based in Antalya, Turkey, recently selected ProAuthor, Comply365’s end-to-end operational content and compliance management system that enables faster, more routine manual revisions, and enables airlines to always be audit-ready.

While SunExpress has already been digitally delivering operational content to its pilots and flight attendants, the airline needed a better way to manage the authoring and distribution process.

By getting smart content right at their fingertips, SunExpress frontline crew members will have access to the appropriate information they need based on their role, location, or other attributes, providing a more personalized and relevant experience that’s unattainable with PDF documentation or less-capable HTML solutions.

Comply365’s mobile app will automate compliance tracking for the 3,500 users at SunExpress and equip frontline employees with electronic forms to send data to the operations staff, to enable data-driven decisions.

SunExpress is a joint venture of Turkish Airlines and Lufthansa that operates scheduled and chartered passenger flights to 90 destinations in 30 countries. It operates a fleet of more than 50 Boeing 737-800/-8 aircraft.

“We warmly welcome SunExpress as the first Turkish airline in the Comply365 community, and we look forward to a strong partnership together,” Comply365 CEO Tom Samuel said. “While SunExpress already has seen success with digital delivery of operational content, the flexibility of our solutions provides value to airlines in every stage of the digital transformation journey – providing them the ability to further improve the efficiency, safety, and compliance of their operations.”

The New Era For Rail Operational Content

If your railroad’s paper-based operational documents are a thing of the past – now ready to become a collector’s item on eBay – congratulations! Digital transformation for rail’s paper-based grips, bulletins, timetables, general orders, rule books and manuals are a big accomplishment and should be celebrated. But taking the next digital step is where even more value comes in. First movers in rail experienced the cost reductions, efficiencies, and safety gains of digitizing documents. But the journey continues to a broader transformation – the era of smart content delivery.

The days of searching for content are gone. Smart operational content now follows a crew member based on their roles, duties, or routes.

Railroads can deliver tremendous value to their mobile end users by delivering content that provides a more personalized and targeted experience. This starts during the authoring process by creating smart content that is tailored and automatically delivered based on attributes of every user (role, locomotive, segment, and more). Crew members no longer need to search through a ton of irrelevant bulk information to find the relevant information they need. By empowering the mobile end user with the right content, right when they need it, they increase the safety and efficiency of the operation. Digital Transformation in RailComply365 has been partnering with rail operators to provide support at every step of their digital transformation journey, including delivery of smart content to engineers and conductors. In this Railway Age article, read more about three major initiatives where our technology is at the cornerstone. Ready to learn more?
